The Vase Makes the Flowers
A studio update (a giveaway & a sale!)...and why the right vase can change everything!
There’s something about bringing a little nature indoors that instantly lifts my mood. A photo of the beach, a vase of fresh flowers—nature makes any space feel more alive. It adds warmth in winter and a cool, refreshing touch in summer.
To help you bring a little nature into your home, I have both a giveaway and a sale coming up!
To celebrate the first day of spring, I’ll be choosing 100 subscribers to win a free signed mini-print of your choice. Winners shop my current catalog, pick your favorite, I’ll have it printed (mini) and send it straight to you.
So, if you haven’t already subscribed, do it! (It’s free!)
Studio Selects Sale Coming this Month!
I’ll be offering a limited collection of signed and approved test prints—the very same prints I use to finalize my work before adding them to my site. These are top-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces, sold at sample prices, and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
Keep an eye out for details soon.
…and why the right vase can change everything!
Fresh flowers are the easiest way to add beauty to a room (although, a gorgeous photograph does last longer 😉 ) . Even a few stems in the right vase can brighten a space and make everyday moments feel special. But have you ever struggled with floppy, uncooperative flowers? The secret? A well-shaped vase.
Last week, a dear friend gave me the perfect vase for my birthday, and it was a reminder of just how much vase shape matters—and how great it is to have a few go-to vases that make flower arranging effortless. Even a simple bunch from the grocery store can look amazing (just not the mixed bouquet, please). My go-to grocery store picks? Tulips, spray roses, alstroemeria, peonies, or even just a bundle of eucalyptus. Stick with one type or mix your own, but trust me—skip the pre-mixed chaos.
In college, while studying interior design, I worked as a floral designer. I spent hours arranging flowers, learning what works (and what doesn’t). And trust me—the right vase makes all the difference.
Why Vase Shape Matters
Think of a vase as your flower’s best friend. It keeps them upright, looking their best, and prevents that awkward “flop-over” situation. The best vases offer just enough support to keep flowers from leaning or clumping together, and they look beautiful even when empty.
The Best Vase Shapes for Easy Arranging
For stress-free floral arrangements, choose a vase with a neck that tapers inward. This shape naturally holds stems in place, so you don’t have to keep adjusting them.
What to Avoid
Wide-mouthed vases may seem tempting, but unless you want to wrestle with floral foam or make a grid out of clear tape, they can be a hassle. Stick to vases that do the work for you—you’ll thank me later.

(These are not sponsored links, just ideas to get your shopping started. It’s almost Valentine’s Day so you should buy yourself, or your Valentine, a vase and then fill it with flowers! 💐 )
I’m working on a post about framing (and hanging) art for your home. If you have specific questions—leave me a comment!
